Can a copper brush get rid of dandruff?

dandruff causes
Unorthodox asked:

I saw a hairbrush the other day at the store that had copper bristles on it. The packaging claimed that the copper would kill the fungus that causes dandruff. You use the brush just as you would normally use a brush and it supposedly gets rid of your dandruff. Anyone ever hear of anything to support this claim?

Dandruff is dry skin flakes on your scalp, not anything to do with a “fungus”. A “copper” bristled brush sounds like it would not only remove dandruff, but all of your hair as well! Why not just use sandpaper?

It is true that some types of dandruff are caused by a fungus…
